My third day back at work served as a reminder that there are times when I get angry and frustrated in the office. I received a message from "on high" that I felt was criticised some of my methods and immediately I started to get palpitations, I felt shaky and had to fight the urge to send a rude response. Remembering that I am working on becoming a kinder person this year, I spent a few minutes and put myself in my bosses shoes. Most people in authority are answering to someone else and are merely passing down thoughts and perceptions. It is better to be grateful to your boss for putting you in the picture and letting you know how your performance is being perceived than to be upset with them for communicating with you. Armed with this information I was able to work with my boss to resolve a situation with team spirit rather than choosing a war of words!

I also resisted the temptation to moan about the situation with my co-workers as this gives a problem energy and creates bad feelings for everyone. This was progress in my quest to be kinder this year and surprisingly it felt good!
